SANTA FELICIDADE

This is the unmissable Italian quarter of Santa Felicidade, behind the cathedral. This is the neighborhood where the many Italian immigrants fleeing poverty settled between the end of the ^19th century and the beginning of the ^20th century. It was Dona Felicidade Borges who donated the area to the Italian colony, which devoted itself to the production of farm produce. The name of the generous donor has stuck. Today, Santa Felicidade is Curitiba's major gastronomic district. There are, of course, many fine Italian restaurants to be found here.
