CAST IRON DO RIBEIRÃO
An astonishing fountain featuring a statue of the god Neptune and 5 orifices sculpted in bronze through which the water flows
Built in 1796 on the initiative of the then governor Fernando Antônio de Noronha, this surprisingly styled fountain met the drinking water needs of the city's inhabitants. The vast frontispiece, covered in garish blue paint, is surmounted by a statue of the god Neptune. Three barred windows are placed in the center. They give access to underground galleries. Five orifices sculpted in bronze through which water flows, located close to the ground, complete this spectacular edifice.
