Located 300 km from the coast, it is a very hot city (it has the reputation of being the hottest city in the country), modern and square. Teresina began to be populated in the 17th century, with Domingos Jorge Velho and a group of bandeirantes, who established a trading post and a cattle ranch. In 1797, the church of Nossa Senhora do Amparo was erected, and its foundation was formalized on August 16, 1852. The Rio Parnaíba and the Rio Poty, which cross the city, give it the air of an oasis in the desert. We will not make the trip on purpose for that, the city is more a stage towards the Serra da Capivara. Some sites to visit.
