NAIL-BITING
Wrought-iron bridge built to improve the city's port structure, now a major local tourist attraction
Wrought-iron bridge built in 1902 in the English pier style. One of Praia de Iracema's busiest spots. The bridge was built to improve the town's port structure. Its construction was a project designed by English engineers to become an extension of Fortaleza's harbor pier. Work was interrupted and the project was never completed. In 1994, the Secretary of Culture of the State of Ceará began restoring the bridge, which has become a major local tourist attraction.
