It covers almost 390 hectares (14 of which are occupied by the zoo) and is one of the largest urban fragments of Atlantic forest in the state. Dois Irmãos State Park is considered one of the country's leading centers for in situ nature conservation. Its exuberant ecosystem is home to free-living plants and animals, including sloths, marmosets, capybaras and several species of birds. It is a botanical and zoological garden and an environmental education center. Guides accompany visitors (please book ahead).
