It's hard not to see this military edifice as you're bound to pass over one of the city's many bridges linking the former Pernambouco to Olinda. Built by the Dutch in 1667, the fort was originally named Frédéric Henry after the Prince of Orange but, given its pentagonal structure, was soon nicknamed Forte das Cinco Pontas (Fort of the Five Points), its current common name. Today, it houses the Museu da Cidade de Recife.
