MORRO DO PAI INÁCIO
The park's highest plateau, a hill with particularly spectacular views of the Camelo morros
Morro do Pai Inácio is one of Chapada Diamantina's postcards and the park's highest plateau, dominated by its powerful relief. It's a vast, desolate plateau, battered by the winds. From the summit, at an altitude of 1,120 m, you have a magnificent view over the entire region, whose immensity you can appreciate. At sunset, when the golden light redraws the rocks, the scenery impresses with its beauty.
You don't need to hire a guide to climb the Morro, but a professional from the guide office can help you learn about the area's rich biodiversity, history and legends. Climbing the Pai Inácio hill is not in itself difficult. You only need to be in reasonably good physical condition to complete the 500-metre trail to the summit. The views over the Camelo and Três Irmãos morros are particularly spectacular.
The ascent of the Morro can be undertaken quite late, as it is relatively short, but the ideal time to climb is around sunset, before 5 pm. Once at the summit, you can enjoy a breathtaking view from this veritable oasis in the Bahian Sertao.
As with any mountain, weather conditions are particularly changeable when climbing the morro de Pai Inácio. At the summit, the wind can be hard to bear and temperatures can plummet, especially if it's raining. A windbreaker and fleece jacket are essential. Check weather conditions before setting off.

A faire en fin d'après-midi quand le soleil couchant illumine la plaine et les autres "mesas" ou montagnes plates qui parsèment la région de la Chapada Diamantina. Inoubliable.
