CACHOEIRA DA FUMAÇA
340-metre-high waterfall, with small clouds of mist and liquid smoke, offering a magnificent spectacle
The 340-metre-high Cachoeira da Fumaça(Waterfall of Smoke) is a spectacular sight. The waterfall's flow is often quite low, so the winds create a natural misting system, generating clouds of water vapor that give the impression of smoke(fumaça).
How to get there: First you have to get to Palmeiras, a charming village tucked away in the hills, 40 km from Lençóis (by bus), then to the small village of Capão, 18 km further on. From there, after a short 2 km walk, you reach the top of the waterfall. To be done with a guide.
