Beautiful square to the southwest of the Pelourinho, home to a beautiful old palace now used as a military police base

Not far from the MAM (Bahia Museum of Modern Art), in the southwest of Pelourinho, there is this beautiful square, the Largo dos Aflitos, hosting the Gamboa missionary center with its colonial architecture. It is a beautiful old palace that today serves as a base for the military police. Right in front of it is the building of the Ministry of Agriculture. Crossing the esplanade, we reach the terrace of the Mirante dos Aflitos and its superb panorama on the bay and the island of Itaparica, point of observation of choice at the time of the sunset.
