PRAIA DO PORTO DA BARRA

Bordered by the bay of Todos os Santos, the beach of Porto da Barra, whose orientation allows to enjoy a rather calm sea and splendid sunsets, is of rather reduced size. On weekends and public holidays, it is crowded with city dwellers and visitors. The atmosphere is then quite festive. From the promenade overlooking it, you can see the island of Itaparica, and at its end, below the wall of the fort of São Diogo, you can see a high white cross commemorating the foundation of the city in 1549 by Tomé de Sousa.
