Reef-protected urban beach ideal for surfing, with small waves and natural pools
This is undoubtedly one of the most accessible urban beaches for those living in the pelourinho or in the residential district of Barra. It's also one of Salvador's picture postcard beaches. Farol da Barra beach is protected by reefs and features small waves and natural pools. On the other side of Morro do Cristo is another small beach. Surfing is common on both beaches, which are crowded at weekends. Not always clean, but still pleasant.
