Fountain dating from 1749, with 3 different basins, including one filled with drinking water, a wash-house and an animal trough.

Three different basins make up this fountain dating from 1749: one filled with drinking water, a wash-house and an animal trough. The Chafariz de São José is the only one in Minas Gerais to feature an oratory with an image of a saint. The construction is reminiscent of a church façade. A visit to Tiradentes is only complete if you can hear up close the sound of water falling from the three fountains. The spring that feeds the fountain is located in the nearby Mãe D'Água wood. An ancient stone aqueduct filters the water to the fountain.
