This was the residence, between 1755 and 1770, of the exuberant Chica da Silva and her partner, the diamond merchant João Fernandès de Oliveira - a period during which they had a whopping 13 children, almost one a year! A mulatto, a freed slave, Chica broke the codes of the time by marrying one of the city's greatest fortunes and frequenting the same places as her partner, causing a great scandal among the white elite. This heroine was immortalized in the film of the same name by Carlos Diegues. Museum a little disappointing.

Newcomer at 17:00 we found closed door. The next day, disappointing free tour but: except for some texts talking about Chica Silva, nothing allows you to see in these large empty rooms the way of life of this period. part of the building is served by offices of Iphan (historical heritage).
