PÂQUES À OURO PRETO

If the fervor of the Christian faith is palpable throughout Brazil, it takes on a special dimension during the Easter celebrations in the former state capital. On the eve of the procession, the faithful draw delicate pictures with grains of wheat, coffee grounds and flowers along the route, in an effervescent atmosphere. As in Antigua, Guatemala's sleeping beauty, the whole town will be decking out its windows and balconies, and the resurrection procession will pass through in a moment of jubilation shared by all.
