SEMANA DE ALEIJADINHO

The Aleijadinho, or "little cripple", was an artist and sculptor who decorated a large number of churches and civil buildings until 1814, when he died. Although he was affected by a crippling disease (leprosy), he put his stamp on the Mineiro Baroque. His history is inseparable from that of his city: Vila Rica d'Ouro Preto, known today simply as Ouro Preto. During one week, multiple celebrations and commemorations pay tribute to the Mineiro artist in Ouro Preto and in Minas Gerais.
