Rio's municipal theater, now home to Rio's opera and philharmonic orchestras, offering an excellent program
Strongly inspired by the Opéra Garnier in Paris, the Rio Municipal Theatre was inaugurated in 1909. Today it houses the Opera and the Rio Philharmonic Orchestra. The programming is often excellent. Classical operas and ballets are regularly proposed. You can consult the program and reserve your seats directly on the website, at much lower rates than in France. Visits to the theatre are organized.
