This huge restaurant is a real institution. It presents an elaborate and folklorized version of the local cuisine, with roasted meat and barbecue. On a gigantic circular barbecue, the waiters grill pieces of meat at the end of Maasai spears. No menu: they bring you sauces and side dishes, then offer you all kinds of meat (sausages, pork, mutton, beef, but also crocodile, ostrich...). When you are full, you put the little flag on your table.

The Carnivore, a long time ago had known itself to serve exotic meat (giraffes, zebras, antelopes,…). This being allowed more in Kenya (fight against poaching), as an exotic a few pieces of crocodile or camel will be offered. The address remains in all guides and therefore attracts many tourists (including says Petit Futé: authenticity zero), with prices accordingly. This says the address is not bad and grilled dishes are well prepared (beware, do not be bastringue sausages who are brought in the first, nets and better rooms arrive then).

Ce restaurant fait parti du groupe Tamarind, qui se compose de plusieurs restaurants de qualité notamment sur Nairobi.
Nous y allons régulièrement en famille le dimanche où l'ambiance y est justement familiale avec des animations pour les enfants.
L'établissement se divise en 2 sections, une touristique, style churrasco rodizio, et une autre plus locale et meilleur marché.
Autrefois, on pouvait y manger de la viande d'animaux sauvages, mais cela semble révolu.
Ne pas manquer l'immense barbeque.
