EX-PALACE HOTEL

The building, which was built between 1908 and 1912 for the big merchant Otoniel Vela, is now occupied by the army. Its art nouveau design makes it easy to spot from a distance. Its architecture has influences of the Catalan modernism of the school of Antoni Gaudí. With its three floors, it presents a beautiful assembly of wrought iron,azulejos and arabesques undulating on the cornices. Recently it has also been possible to visit the interior freely and it is well worth a visit. This establishment was considered the most luxurious in the Peruvian Amazon.
