CASA DE FIERRO

The "iron house" is located at the corner of Avenidas Próspero and Putumayo. It is a National Historical and Cultural Heritage Site and, as its name suggests, is made entirely of iron. It is another work of Gustave Eiffel dating from 1887, which was presented in Paris in 1889, before being sent to Iquitos in 1895. The Spanish rubber magnate Anselmo del Aguila inherited it, although logistical problems prevented it from being transported to Madre de Dios, which, it is said, was to be its final destination.
