The most remarkable casona , by its proportions and its richness, is that of the Palacio Iturregui. Its 3 patios and its multitude of rooms are the seat of the Club Central. The Palacio was built in the 19th century by Manuel de Iturregui y Aguilarte, a nobleman of Basque origin who took part in the liberation struggles. It is the headquarters of the Club Central, the most exclusive social club in the city. Depending on the directories, the place is more or less accessible for a look at the columns and golden mouldings. From the outside, one can already appreciate the wrought iron gates.
