In addition to the Temple of Sechin, you can also visit the Fortaleza de Chanquillo, located 15 km southeast of the city. This fortress made of circular and rectangular walls is located on top of a hill. It would be in fact an astronomical sanctuary with a solar observatory. Since 2007, the oldest solar calendar in America can be seen there, with 2300 years on the clock! The Pampa de las LLamas and Las Aldas also host interesting ruins, although poorly preserved due to lack of funding for research.

Le mur extérieur est couvert de très beaux bas-reliefs et des escaliers permettent une vue panoramique du site. Un petit musée est situé à l'entrée du site.
