RATAQUENUA VIEWPOINT

We climb through the Avenida de la Confraternidad Este to the cemetery (where one can read, engraved on the stone, the tragic history of the Callejón de Huaylas between the earthquake of May 31, 1970, the accidents in which climbers perished, and the massacre of APRA activists in 1931…). We continue by el Pedregal for 2 km. There you have a breathtaking view of the Cordillera and its volcanoes to the eternal snow. For security reasons, it is strongly discouraged to come overnight, or only in groups.
