This huge house that borders the Plaza de Armas was built in 1677 and belonged to the bishop Cristóbal de Castilla y Zamora, brother of King Carlos II. In the courtyard there is a vineyard where it is said that one of the shoots was exported to Ica and "gave birth" to wine production. It is not taught anymore but you can visit its patio and attend some cultural events. The current university is located on Independencia Avenue and houses the Museo Histórico Regional Hipólito Unanue.
