Built in the 16th century, 30 years after the foundation of Huancavelica, Santo Domingo is located 100 meters from the Cathedral. This imposing building displays its unusual dimensions, its very elaborate facade and its meticulously worked door in red stone. The altar and the small chapel are in tune with each other: beauty and decrepitude. The Virgin of the Rosary and Saint Dominic are venerated there, images of the fine arts brought from Rome. According to the legend, this temple communicated with the temple of San Francisco. Ten metres away is the façade of the old Dominican convent.
