GALERIA MARTIN CHAMBI
Chambi is one of the fathers of modern Peruvian photography. Famous for his portraits full of strength of Andean characters or his images of Machu Picchu before its tourist boom. Born in the Andes near Puno and its lake Titicaca in 1891, he first worked in Arequipa and in his native region before settling in Cusco in 1920. Throughout these 4 small rooms on the first floor, we get a glimpse of his sensitive work as a portraitist and immerse ourselves in the Cusco of yesteryear. It is said that he was the first indigenous photographer.
