CONVENTO DE SANTA CATALINA

Now a religious museum, the convent still houses about thirty nuns. Founded in 1605, on the ruins of the "house of the Virgins of the Sun", the Renaissance building has kept three Inca walls. Beautiful paintings from the Cusco school: a mixed-race Virgen del Rosario, Virgins surrounded by motifs from the Andean cosmogony - moons, snakes... - a Virgin by Tito Quispe with her hair untied. The church is rich in gilded baroque altarpieces and paintings.

Histoire très intéressante et architecture magnifique. Je conseille vivement de faire un petit crochet par ce couvent.
