La Ruta del Sol provides comfortable buses between Cusco and Puno. Departures are at 6.40 a.m. in either direction (from Puno, Terminal Terrestre; from Cusco, 5to paradero Ttio), arriving around 5.30 p.m. The service is top-notch: comfortable bus, toilets, drinks available, lunch included, bilingual English guide, panoramic views. The bus stops at various points: Andahuaylillas and its Baroque church, Raqchi, La Raya at 4,335 m altitude and Pukará and its ceramic bull museum. Touristy but effective.
