Ein aussergewöhnlich schöner Ort, wie eine Insel auf einer Insel. Die Ausblicke und das Essen sind super, man kann selber kochen, aber dafür sind die Köche zu gut. Man kann sehr gut wandern, aber ich würde zumindest einmal mit dem Quad mitfahren, ein Superspaß. David und sein Team sind supernett, ich kann die Unterkunft nur empfehlen und würde bestimmt wiederkommen.

Perfection! We stayed in one of the private rooms for three nights. The room was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed getting to know David and everyone at the Calderia, who were all warm and welcoming. We had a great time talking with the other guests during the family style meals. The food was amazing! The hotel grounds are fantastic, beautiful landscaping, with unbelievable views. We hope to return!

After driving every day for a couple of weeks, we decided to slow things down a notch with a stay at Caldeira Guesthouse at Faja da Caldeira de Santo Cristo. Another of Sao Jorge’s gems, this faja is a little harder to access than some places, with just two trails in and out. But a visit is well worth the effort, and its isolation is part of the allure. The guesthouse accommodations are remarkably comfortable. We slept so well! The food is top notch —fresh, balanced and wholesome. The easygoing vibe around the common dining area makes it a great place to meet fellow travelers. David and his crew took good care of us. It’s easy to see how much they love this place, and, once you’ve been there, it’s easy to understand why.

Amazing people, very good home cooked meals and the atmosphere is very special. Great to relax or do outdoor activities. A place where you can relax and enjoy the nature. Won't be the last time I stayed there ????

This place is absolutely incredible! More of a hostel vibe with shared bathrooms and kitchen and everything (unless you pay for private). The staff is so so friendly and if you opt into dinner (extra charge) it's so delicious and served family style at a big table which was an added bonus. We met many cool people from all over the world this way. The place is also located right smack in the middle of 2 of the absolute best hikes and has places to swim as well. I would absolutely repeat this experience. If you stay, I highly recommend booking for a minimum of 2 nights. People staying for just 1 regretted booking for just 1 night. I wish we would have booked all 3 nights on the island here!
