SÃO PEDRO CHURCH

Begun in the 15th^century , its construction continued in the 17th^and 18th^centuries . Behind its beautiful façade and Baroque portal, it houses, among other treasures, a statue of Notre-Dame-des-Soupirs considered to be the most beautiful in the archipelago, old books, an extremely rich altar dedicated to Mary, the painting La Pentecôte by painter Pedro Alexandrino de Carvalho and, in the sacristy, moving ex-votos by sailors.
