Museum in the oldest building in Fort Lauderdale, owned by Frank, founder of the city and Ivy Cromartie Stranahan
Built in 1901 on the banks of the New River, the Stranahan House is the oldest building in Broward County, and therefore in Fort Lauderdale. It belonged to Frank and Ivy Cromartie Stranahan. One is considered the founding father of the city, the other was the first teacher in Broward County. The house, which has undergone several additions over the years, is now a historic site with a fascinating museum that you can explore on a guided tour.
