Tower-houses in the ramparts housing a magnificent observation post
It was one of the curiosities of Tivoli that had many of these tower houses (torri box), which were integrated into the ramparts that protected the city or placed in strategic places within the city. The highest part of the building was a magnificent observation post, or even an almost inaccessible storage place for the enemy, while the lower part served as a place of habitation.
