You will surely cross this island to go from the historical centre to Trastevere. Located in front of the portico of Octavia, the legend tells that it would be none other than the petrification of the ship that brought Aesculapius to Rome... A temple was built in his honour on the lower tip of the island, later replaced by a church: San Bartolomeo. The hospital run by the brothers of Saint-Jean-de-Dieu, called Fatebenefratelli ("Do good, my brothers") covers almost the entire perimeter of the island. The island of Tiberina is a very pleasant place to walk.

Charmante île depuis quasiment toujours exclusivement occupée par un hôpital. Jolie vue depuis les rives du Tibre, on peut la traverser à pied le temps d'une agréable balade pour rejoindre le Trastevere.

charmante promenade à partir du théatro marcello, par exemple, qui permet de découvrir de jolies vues sur le tibre, encore relativement "sauvage", l'ile petite permet un repos salutaire, et donne acces, ensuite au quartier, plein de vie de Trastevere

Si vous avez l'occasion d'aller sur l'île, allez y! C'est une balade très sympa, il y a une petite église au centre et la vue est belle de chaque côté de l'île. Il y a un glacier à tomber juste après la cathédrale sur la droite en direction du pont.
