PALAZZO COLONNA
Visit this palace and admire the decoration with painted stucco and murals.
In the 15th century, Martin V Colonna moved his family into this palace. The present building dates from 1730 and features painted stucco and murals, mainly dedicated to Marcantonio Colonna, victor over the Turks at Lepanto. The steps leading up to the grand salon are said to have been hit by a cannonball fired by French artillery in 1849! On view: a Narcissus at the Fountain by Tintoretto and a ceiling by Veronese. Other artists on display include Ghirlandaio, Palma le Vieux, Guerchin, Rubens, Guido Reni and Hannibal Carrache.
