A beautiful fountain with bronze turtles in Rome.
Built according to a design by Giacomo Della Porta in 1582, the fountain of torture was embellished by the architect Taddeo Landini who surmounted it with four bare ephebes. The four small bronze turtles were added by Le Bernin in 1658. In 1979, one of the turtles was stolen; the ones we see today are copies of the originals. Legend has it that Duke Mattei, having lost his fortune at the games, had the fountain built in a single night to prove to his future stepfather that he was still capable of great achievements.

Pour moi, une des très belle fontaine de Rome. Pas la plus connue, certes, mais la plus au calme.
The best at Rome and around
