A superb villa, the headquarters of the French Academy in Rome.
Villa Medici is the headquarters of the Académie de France in Rome. Occupying the former gardens of the poet Lucullus, the first Renaissance-style building was built in 1570 on the initiative of an Italian cardinal, before passing into the hands of the Medici. The Académie de France in Rome was founded in 1666 by Louis XIV to ensure the cultural influence of France and to allow French artists to stay in Rome. It was in 1803, under Napoleon, that the Academy moved to the Villa. Artists from all disciplines are always welcomed as boarders.

A beautiful villa and a pleasant park but few things to see. The guided tour is interesting. Great views of Rome.
The visit of the Medici villa is rather disappointing by the lack of things to see and parts to visit (many is inhabited). The guide, nice, waters its few anecdotes in Italian and French (mixed tours) which stretches the visit. Small easy way: the price is €8 reduces a 6th if you justify a public ticket (know that the -1 ILO trip subway is €1...)
