Mother Church of the Theatines order with high dome, place of the first act of the opera by Puccini.

Mother Church of the Order of Theatins, it is considered to be the archetype of the mannerist churches of the Counter-Reformation. Its dome is one of the highest in Rome. In the church, the fresco of Lanfranco covers the inside of the dome, and those of the Dominiquin the pendants and the vault of the choir. There is also a copy of Michelangelo's Pietà, made in 1616 by De Rossi. It is in this church that the first act of Puccini's opera Tosca takes place.

Une très belle église ! Vous pouvez observer dans les moindres détails les nombreuses peintures se trouvant sur la plafond grâce aux miroirs.

Jolie église
Comme j'aime visiter beaucoup de monuments et d'églises, je conseillerai cette visite. Néanmoins pour ceux qui ne restent pas longtemps notamment pour les courts séjours, ce n'est pas indispensable.

Pour les amateurs d'opéra, c'est dans cette église que débute l'opéra "Tosca" de Puccini, opéra Romain par excellence...
On peut aller y retrouver les traces de Cavaradossi et de Tosca, sans oublier la beauté des lieux...
