Gabriele Bonci set up his bread and pizza oven in this little store tucked between a barbershop and a drugstore. And it was from here that he conquered Rome and the Romans, so much so that he even hosted the best forno competition on Italian television! Few tourists venture down this one-way street. Yet it's here that you'll find some of the best - and certainly most famous - pizza al taglio in the Italian capital. Refined dough and choice ingredients are the hallmarks of Bonci's success.

Non ci siamo, i prezzi sono troppo alti per quello che si ha. Si mangia in piedi se si riesce a trovare il banchetto libero. Noi abbiamo trovato libero il piano per appoggiare il vassoio fuori, con alle spalle i cassonetti dell immondizia, che per carità, sono comodi per buttare i tovagliolini ma veramente poco consoni per mangiarci vicino. Diciamo la verità quello che si paga è il nome e va bene, si può provare per dire di averlo fatto ma non lo consiglierei.

It’s not cheap, there’s a line, and there’s plenty of people here because of the late and great Bourdain.

But the pizza was DELICIOUS. Great inventive combinations. The scrambled egg, artichoke and rosemary was the highlight for me.

For takeaway pizza, take a ticket, wait for your number to be called on the sign inside. Order your slice(s) by weight. They’ll heat it up for you if you like. Soft and alcoholic beverages available whilst you wait.

The pizza at this place is way overpriced for what you get. I expected more considering the cost. The quality was just average, nothing exceptional. The toppings were sparse, and the crust was nothing to write home about. Overall, I left feeling disappointed and like I had wasted my money. I wouldn't recommend this place if you're looking for value or quality. There are definitely better options out there where you can get a much better pizza for your money.
