POLICE - PSP
The Public Security Police (PSP) is a standardized, armed security force responsible for ensuring democratic legality, internal security and citizens' rights, in accordance with the Constitution and the law. The PSP is hierarchically organized at all levels of its structure, and reports to the member of government responsible for internal administration. Its missions include crime prevention, the preservation of public order, criminal investigation, road safety, security at sporting events, administrative policing, as well as exclusive and special powers such as the control of weapons and explosive substances, and the security of VIPs and international missions. The PSP has a nationwide presence, with the exception of areas covered by other security forces. It places great emphasis on being close to the public and involving them in crime prevention.
