This modern museum traces the history of whaling, which began in 1940 and ended in 1986: documentaries, photographs, objects, models of mammals, boats and the factory. Sperm whale bones and various information testify to their life in this corner of the Atlantic until their extinction. Among the highlights of the visit, the projection of a video film of about 20 minutes, showing the work of the former sperm whale hunters in Caniçal and in the east of Madeira, a few decades ago.

musée bien documenté avec notamment des films en relief (avec des lunettes).
assez ludiques et intéressants poru les enfants. On va aussi dans un sous marin. Très sympatrique
