Prestigious company founded in 1850 and the only Madeira wine producer that operates its own vineyards. In the tasting room, where the wooden barrels in which the precious nectar rests are displayed, a very friendly team, speaking French, will inform you about the complex process of creating Madeira, with the added bonus of a free tasting: 3 years of dry, semi-dry, sweet and semi-sweet age to differentiate. The shop invites you to leave with a bottle under your arm. An oenological stop not to be missed.

Excellent endroit pour une dégustation de madère. Il est agréable de s'asseoir au milieu des tonneaux ! Les vins étaient excellents - vous avez une dégustation gratuite mais aussi la possibilité d'acheter un échantillon de certains vins très rares ou anciens, ce qui est une opportunité très spéciale.

"Peut-être que la dame qui y travaille en a assez des touristes qui sont là pour boire et ne s'intéressent pas à l'histoire de Madère. Mais elle a simplement posé 4 verres devant nous et a essayé de s'en aller. Lorsque nous l'avons interpellée pour lui demander de quels types de raisins et de quel âge provenait ce madère, elle s'est contentée d'une explication précipitée. Je n'ai pas été impressionné. Par contre, l'odeur qui s'en dégage est divine.
