Not to be confused with the Museum of Photography. This museum of optics is above all aimed at enthusiasts and the very curious. It exhibits a large collection of optical instruments (more than 2,000 objects dated between the 18th and 20th centuries), assembled by a passionate person, a real one! Cameras, military optical equipment, telescopes, binoculars, microscopes and projectors fill the showcases. Upstairs, one of the island's largest telescopes is on display and a video on Madeira in the 1950s is projected. Small shop. Nice reception.
