Located in the historic area of Funchal, this restaurant owes its reputation to its quality service and tasty cuisine based on fish and seafood from the local market. The recently renovated interior offers a modern, intimate and family atmosphere. Among the specialties are the épée, a typically regional dish, rice for seafood or "cataplana", a mixture of fish and seafood. This restaurant is recommended by numerous international guides.

On the ground floor of the recent Porto Mare Hotel, close to the Lido seaside The, a rather contemporary decor welcomes us for a suitable stage at lunchtime and even dinner: fine salads and fine dishes for Italian influences (pasta, pizza, risotto…), without surprises. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

In this vast space with woody tones and an intimate atmosphere, we surf the tapas (portions) trend by offering typical dishes to share: octopus, squid, tuna, fried corn, lapas... You can also enjoy more hearty dishes, such as espada fillet with potatoes or pepper steak with homemade chips. The service is pleasant and the waiters explain the portions to be ordered according to your appetite. Not bad to try several specialties during the meal. The products are fresh!

A new management at the helm, but maintaining the formula that has made the success of this popular restaurant: friendly service, delicious typical cuisine and very gentle prices. You will taste one of the best bolo do caco tested in the capital. On the menu: grilled limpets, espada with garlic and white wine or banana, beef brochette with laurel, fresh fish from the market and homemade desserts (special mention for the passion fruit flan!). The decoration has remained frozen in time... Among the best addresses in the old town!

Close to the taxi station, with its relaxing white decoration, the hotel offers fresh and fresh fish dishes. You can eat from 11 am until 4 am, which is possibly practical, for example if you have a party or you are fishing! Prefer the terrace on the floor…

The name does not make the table, rather a peaceful, flowery and romantic place than a snack bar. Certainly one of the most popular Chinese restaurants in Madeira. Located in the heart of Lido, the tourist and hotel area in the west area of Funchal, it is unanimously appreciated. Both the premises and the travellers are attablent every day. Two richly decorated Asian ornaments or a small covered terrace provide a pleasant setting. At the map, a varied choice: Sesame chicken, piri quills quills, beef sauce soy, sweet-sour pork, Beijing fashion duck, curry squid, Chinese spring rolls and famous Cantonese rice arroz chau-chau. An interesting choice of Thai and Japanese dishes completes the offer. You can also count on the good wine list and a friendly and dymanique service. 

In a rustic, kitsch-filled rustic setting with a view and a musical atmosphere, this small restaurant at the corner is welcoming. Without a monsters, it offers good regional cuisine, fish (tuna, espada…) and seafood are generally good and the dishes properly served with generous accompaniments. The rates are reasonable and the nice boss speaks French even. 

We eat rather copiously in this restaurant which simmers a cuisine essentially Madeiran like an excellent fish soup, and the classic banana sabre, tuna steak, octopus with onionade, mixed grilled fish or seafood rice. It's good, it's well cooked and the prices are very attractive. The service is led by a competent and friendly team. In this lively street, the small flowered patio inside the restaurant is a pleasant surprise. Good value for money in the city centre.

Following Rua Dom Carlos I from the cable car station, a happy discovery where the kind waiters do not get you back into the door. Tuna steak and sabre fish are of course honour, but they are not the only options in Alberto's restaurant, ancient Faire. Carpaccio tuna or rice rice rice can be equally delicious without talking about flambés desserts. Warm interior, a few tables on the terrace and a very pleasant and attentive service.

This is a unique restaurant. in addition to offering you most typical Madeira dishes, with special mention for fish, fresh and carefully prepared like tuna, fish saber, grilled swordfish (depending on season, delicious and tender), it is the only address that is advertised as a specialist in Spanish cuisine. Several formulas according to your wishes: on the terrace, for the indécis or to put yourself in the mouth, several choices of tapas. The dish of the day at 5,95 € is very well served. Special mention for pot or rice (Valencia mode). At the map, in a clean and bright room, choice is given between smoked ham, paella (especially mixed with meat, seafood, red pepper… it's beautiful and well perfumed!), zarzuella of seafood, parrillada (grilled) meat, fish plancha… With a sangria, a good Spanish wine or any other beverage (rich and varied map), the quantities are gargantuan. Ask for the advice of the manager, Mr. Antonio Tel, he speaks French well and will be happy to guide you in your choices.

In a small street, above the cathedral, the rustic atmosphere typical under arcade (or a small terrace) makes us discover a kitchen that favours local specialities but exaggerated rates especially for drinks.

Not far from the cathedral, the prétention menus are rich and varied, and the service is rather nice. It's a simple and family space where you can enjoy an old large photo of the city.

This small establishment overlooking the bay of Funchal is suitable for a good Madeira wine with a view of sunset. On the restoration side, typical dishes are simple but well prepared, there are also meat specialities (beef skewers or better and more economical: grilled pork and chicken) and fish (espetada, filete espada, regional milho). A rustic rien, this Garden Grill House at Garden hotel regularly, in the evening, shows folklore shows.

In the programme close to the Marítimo stadium, famous football club, traditional madérienne cuisine, stylish service and sophisticated but warm atmosphere. In a friendly informal atmosphere, do not focus on excellent snacks presented (paid) as an aperitif, the rest is very good: toast (lapas) in their hot butter with garlic, octopus fillets, grilled espada with ovas de, grouper rice, puree and seven other cod dishes… The espetada (of) is tasty, not to mention sweet potato fries. Note: a good wine cellar, paid in beautiful tasting balls and homemade desserts (pudim, wine and chestnut pie). A rite!

The place is really not folichon, it is even foolishly functional. As for the noise of traffic… but the sandwiches and natural juices are delicious, and the fruit salad at 3 € and wheelbarrows could make a meal on its own. For the picnic you can also buy fruit or presunto on site (smoked ham).

In a small, very central corridor, exactly the very popular and lively type of house for a typical break. Open even on Christmas night for a few hardened singles, this ndaxté with terrace lives in the rhythm of its noisy kitchen, inflamed chats of the third age and a TV background permanently. Before or after a pee break in its tiny toilets, spend a moment at the old counter or on a lively terrace, to immerse you with the local atmosphere… Attention, however the address, like others in Madeira has the unfortunate tendency to propose two maps: a basic for premises, increased tourism. So not very recommended to make its meal (salads, octopus escabèche, skewers in all their forms), instead opt for a drink and a familles of families.

The sign is advertised as a cod specialist. Everything is prepared on the spot: sweet potato bread, spicy fish soup, and the variants on offer are proof of a real know-how: accras, baked cod, with scrambled eggs and onions, cooked and served with olive oil, pan-fried? The service is provided by the very friendly Ivo, who composes cocktails according to your mood, in a room with light grey tones, punctuated by lounge music. Desserts: salted caramel ice cream, Greek passion fruit yoghurt... You'll be back!
