Nearly 100,000 books exhibited in some twenty rooms and pavilions, covering an area of 1,200 m². Meeting virtually all the criteria for entry in the Guinness Book of Records, this book of hope holds shelves in two separate spaces on almost every subject and in different languages. Founded in 1886, it is not only the first bookstore established in Madeira, but one of the oldest in the world, and above all, one of the busiest. This real Ali Baba's cave deserves a stop!
