In the nature of the hotel, the architecture of the spa hotel is the work of Michel de Logis and Didier Lefort, which has to be the Le Méridien de Bora-Bora or the Hide in Malaysia. Original, and rather successful! Luxury, calm… and some love. From the delightful swimming pool or terrace of the restaurant, the panorama is stunning on the Bay of Funchal. In the evening, if time permits, although on sale for several years and in late payment, the place remains truly magical! The Zen and Design Hotel has 58 double rooms and 4 luxury suites including Jacuzzi, hi-fi, DVD, Nespresso machines… The rooms, or small bungalows, are of great comfort, and the friendly staff is for small care. The restaurant, open at noon and evening, is one of the best tables on the island, that you can tell! Finally, the famous "Levada dos Tornos" passes inside the hotel: You can reach Monte, get off in Funchal and come back by the cable car… or walk around the island, why not?

Located on the Funchal heights, in the heart of the lush vegetation, the bungalows are scattered here and there, all along the estate. A real paradise.
The room is spacious, comfortable, a bathroom with bath/shower and sink, and a separate toilet. And view in any magnificent point, with large wooden terrace with a small wicker table and 2 lounge chairs.
The hotel complex is complete: 2 pools (ext./int.), a small gym, a spa, a large cosy bar, a large lounge, a computer in a small library, and the wireless for grumpy Net surfers; -) to the bar and the restaurant. The general decoration of Indonesian cuisine/wood is superb.
The cuisine is very good (despite the publicity made to the french chef - you are not a Ducasse either, eh?! ), but fresh and prepared with taste. The extremely rich breakfast buffet and tastes.
As for the staff, I will metterai 20/20. We were welcomed formidably, and all the staff, from the reception to the restaurant was always available and smiling, and at any time!
Now if you are looking for some negative points, you find some inevitably, like everywhere. The armchairs of the restaurant need refreshing, the joints of the bathtub took to be renovated, you could possibly need 2/3 people more for the bar/restaurant. And yes! the hotel is very high! If you miss the shuttle, the taxi costs €12 up (made the comparison for the same trip in France!). Moreover, the heights allow you to sleep in fresh night and provides air conditioning useless. Ideal.
Even if it is not a real palace (those that have large paths will go elsewhere!), Choupana Hills is a hotel with UNBEATABLE quality/price!
And some people of French hospitality should make it a course, history to remember that you do not need to pay a room €500 per night to be well received...
