CHURCH OF SAINT PAUL
Dominating the main square, it is Baroque in style, designed by Francesco Buonamici and completed by Lorenzo Gafà in 1683. It was erected in honor of Paul of Tarsus, who is said to have converted Malta's first Christians. The altarpiece, by Stefano Erardi, is particularly noteworthy, but it's in July that the church is decked out for the festive season. The interior walls are covered in red damask, trimmed in gold, the crystal chandeliers are taken out of their covers and all the gilded statuettes of the saints are displayed on the altar. An exceptional opportunity to admire it.
