ISLETS OF ST PAUL
Go there and contact
Located about 80 m off the coast of Mellieha, these two islets, separated by an isthmus and close to the shores of Saint Paul Bay, are traditionally considered to be the site of the shipwreck of Saint Paul. Sculpted by Segismond and Salvatore Dimech, a large statue of the apostle was unveiled there in 1845. They have been uninhabited since the Second World War and are now inhabited by land snails and lizards. You can get there by boat, although interest is limited. Nevertheless, the clarity of the water around the islets is almost worth the trip.
