NATIONAL AQUARIUM MALTA
Clownfish, graceful jellyfish, delicate seahorses, menacing sharks, flying fish, tentacled octopus, manta rays... nemo's colorful world can be spied in this superb aquarium, whose highlight is the shark tunnel. An excellent way to discover the marine fauna of Malta and beyond. Some areas showcase the archipelago's ecosystem and work to preserve endemic species. Other parts of the aquarium showcase Mediterranean species from further afield. There are also fascinatingly colorful tropical fish. Unfortunately, there is no French-language audiophone. You can join a guided tour (one every hour), but you'll need to brush up on your aquatic vocabulary to fully understand the workings of these fascinating marine worlds. The team is passionate!

The Malta National Aquarium offers a superb setting for discovering the marine life of Malta and beyond. Its 52 tanks are home to a variety of fish, reptiles, insects and more. You're sure to marvel at seahorses, octopuses, manta rays, sharks and more. The aquarium is divided into several thematic zones. The Tropical Oceans zone offers an immersion in Indo-Pacific marine life. And don't miss a visit to the Roman Zone, where you can see replicas of ancient Roman remains. If you opt for a behind-the-scenes tour, you'll be able to visit the food preparation area, the quarantine zone and the laboratory. The complex also boasts a landscaped public belvedere where you can enjoy superb views. There's also an on-site restaurant where you can take a gourmet break before or after your visit. The site also includes a multi-storey parking lot and facilities for local diving schools. An interesting address to visit!
Many tanks, some very well done with beautiful picturesque fish but mostly just basic bigger aquariums. I wouldn't say it's worth the steep entrance fee (16.90€ for an adult - APR 24) , more suitable if you have seen most of Malta, or want to have some easy programme for the kids or when it's raining, you can spend some time here.
The gift shop is nice, fully packed with many souvenirs, very pricey indeed.
