This crossing point (Metehan Kapısı, Οδόφραγμα Αγιου Δομετιου/Odofragma Agiou Dometiou, Agios Dometios-Metehan Crossing Point) is the most important between south and north in terms of traffic, and the wait is sometimes long. Also known as Kermya/Kermia, it is located in the divided municipality of Agios Dometios, the northern part of which is called Metehan or Aydemet. This crossing point (Ledra Palace Kapısı, Οδοφράγματος Λήδρα Πάλας/Odofragmatos Lidra Palas, Ledra Palace Crossing) was the first to be opened, in 2003, after twenty-nine years of separation between North and South. It adjoins the former Ledra Palace Hotel, which serves as a barracks for peacekeepers. Less used since the opening of Lokmacı/Ledra Street, this crossing remains interesting with the presence of numerous institutions nearby, in the buffer zone.
