AÉROPORT ERCAN

Airline and services

This so-called "international" airport (Ercan Uluslararası Havalimanı) is the only one in the northern part of Cyprus. Created in 1975, it is located on a former British World War II base and bears the name of Turkish officer Fehmi Ercan (1935-1974), who was killed during the invasion. It is well equipped, but its status as an "international" airport is not recognized: all aircraft must transit through Turkey. There are no flights to France. Inhabitants of the northern zone tend to use the Larnaka airport to reach Europe.
