ARCHANGELOS MIHAIL CHURCH

This small Greek Orthodox church (Ναός Αρχαγγέλου Μιχαήλ/Naos Archangelou Mihail, Church of Archangel Michael) stands next to the church of Panagia tis Podithou. It was built shortly after the latter, in the early ^16th century, and decorated by the same painter, Symeon Axentis. The frescoes here are in a more classical Byzantine style. Of particular note is the chilling episode of "blood sweat" (stress-induced hematidrosis) striking Jesus on the Mount of Olives.
